I like Kinky Friedman's take on this. They should have the right to be just as miserable as the rest of us.

what business of anyone else's who marries whom?
And don't give me that sanctity of marriage nuts. If you can get married to someone you just met 3 hours ago in a Las Vegas neon "Chapel" by an Elvis impersonator, how f**king sacred can it be? And don't get me started on Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire, Who Wants to Marry a Midget and Who Wants to Marry a GoldDigging Moronic sleeper. If we can make marriage a contest for idiots, how f**king sacred can it be.
Let people do what they please. Who the f**k are they hurting?

i am not gay so i don't have any plans on marrying a gay person....
but i believe what the gay community wants is the same tax breaks, insurance benefits and other perks that married couples enjoy.....
husband and wife = life partners
life partners get breaks and benefits
gay person and gay person ( whom want to be married ) = life partners.
they are not trying to bring down the family unit, they pose not threat to anyone, they are just looking to get the benefits of a married couple......what harm is there in that unless you are homophobic.
and i agree with blsabob, there is nothing sacred about marriage anymore than what the married couple put into it. and any married couple whose married would simply collapse from the powers allowing gay marrages, don't need to be together anyways.
